J.D. Structural Design is a consultancy whose focus is on facilitating beautiful architecture through thoroughness in design and clarity in communication. Drawing on a wealth of experience working on projects of all sizes & types, we aim to ensure that both clients & design teams are always informed on the structural, economical & environmental implications of the many decisions that must be made over the course of a project.

Since graduating from Edinburgh in 2014, founder John Dawes has spent 10 years living & working in London as a consultant structural engineer. His experience during this time extends from Award winning private residential conversions to public artwork to large commercial developments including luxury hotels & heritage office buildings. A common theme in his work is sustainability through design. His familiarity with traditional building methods & materials ensures that the opportunity to re-use & retain existing structure is always explored, whilst his technical ability with new building materials & methodologies enables an assured design that seamlessly integrates the new with the old.

Founded in 2024, the primary goal of JDSD is to offer an efficient, transparent & accomplished service to its clients. Based in the South West but operating across the UK, we treat all projects, big & small, with the respect they deserve as we understand that for many of our clients, we are contributing to a significant investment in their lives.
